Zvornik is located in Bosnia and Herzegovina, on the Drina river. It is considered to be one of the oldest cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with traces of settlements dating back to the Neolithic. For centuries, the city was under the rule of different civilizations and empires, from the Romans, through Byzantium, the Ottoman Empire to Austria-Hungary.

Zvornik was first mentioned under its current name in 1410. According to one legend, the place got its name from the bell tower of a ruined church, which was most likely built at the end of the 7th or the beginning of the 8th century. According to another version, the town got its name from the bell tower of the Franciscan monastery, built at the beginning of the 15th century. There is another possibility, ie. that the city of Zvornik got its name from the numerous sources of cold water (source - izvor). It is known that during the time of the Romans it was a rest stop on the way to Sirmium.

This beautiful city has a rich history and culture, but it also boasts some significant natural beauties.

One of the most valuable attractions in Zvornik is the Zvornik fortress (Đurđev grad), which has been declared a National Monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

It is believed that the fortress was built at the end of the 13th or the beginning of the 14th century. The fortress was conquered in the 15th century by the despot Đurađ Branković, after whom it is named. According to legend, the fortress was built by his wife Cursed Jerina, so it is also called Jerina's town. The fortress was later expanded by the Turks during their rule (1460-1878), and upgraded by the Austro-Hungarians, whose army was stationed in the Zvornik fortress during the period of occupation from 1878 to 1918, so that today the fortress is a testimony of different and, obviously, turbulent historical events.

Kušlat is a medieval town, built in the 13th century. This cultural and historical monument is located at the mouth of the Jadra in Drinjač, 15 kilometers south of Zvornik, on a vertical rock.

According to the Turkish travel writer Evlija Celebija, there was a granary and an armory with five cannons in Kušlat. The town had 120 houses with gardens. The road leading to the city was carved in stone, about two meters wide, and has 500 stone steps with a stone fence on both sides.

In addition to the fortresses, Zvornik also has beautiful natural beauty. The Drina River with its cold and clear water is suitable for vacations, but also for rafting, rafting or sport fishing. Because of its clean and green water, it is also called Zelenika, and this river, extremely rich in fish (catfish, trout, bream, barbel, pike...) provides true enjoyment to all true anglers. Next to the Drina there is an organized area for walking, a city beach, as well as volleyball and beach soccer fields. Numerous manifestations are held on the river itself or on its banks, such as the "Zvornička Regatta" or the "Zvornička Summer".

The city hosts various festivals, concerts and cultural events throughout the year. There are also several museums and galleries that provide visitors with an insight into the city's rich history and art.
