Tourism in Serbia - Villages, spas and mountains

Travel destinations , 0 Comments Apr 01, 2024

On the Balkan Peninsula, in the central part of Europe, Serbia attracts tourists from all over the world both with organized events and targeted tourist offers - spas, ethno-villages, mountains, cities.

The center of events is certainly the capital, Belgrade, while Novi Sad, as the cultural center of Vojvodina, follows it in terms of the number of visits.

Lake Palić is located in the north of the country, close to Subotica, and offers visitors beautifully decorated resorts for relaxing on long walks by the lake, as well as visiting the local Zoo.

Rural tourism in Serbia is gaining more and more importance as a specific tourist offer, especially if it builds on the offers of mountain centers, such as: Kopaonik, Tara, Zlatibor, Rudnik, Divčibare... Visitors to these regions are numerous both during the summer and during winter.

In recent years, more has been invested in cable cars and the arrangement of ski slopes, which has significantly increased the number of visitors during the winter days.

As in the rest of the Balkans, ethnic villages are increasingly frequented and numerous, and in Serbia the following stand out: Mokra Gora, Košutnići, Drvenograd, Staro selo...

Most of the spas in Serbia are located at the foot of the mountains, surrounded by forests and protected from strong winds, and have a mild climate. They have long been recognized as vacation destinations for tourists who are not fans of winter sports and low temperatures, but it is even more important to mention that various diseases are treated in the spas in Serbia, and that numerous local medicinal plants are available during the stay in the spas.

Rich in lakes and thermal mineral waters, Serbia has more than 1,000 mineral water sources, around which more than 40 medicinal spas have been built. Their visitors are offered various therapies in well-equipped medical institutions, but they will especially enjoy a stay in nature and greenery.

Congress tourism is also represented in Banja, and groups of more advanced companies will also meet on walks. Some of the most famous spas are: Vrnjačka Banja, Prolom Banja, Ribarska Banja, Soko Banja, Sijarinska banja, Lukovska Banja, Vrdnik Banja, Kanjiža Banja, Vrujići Banja, Ždrelo Banja... of which Vrnjačka and Soko Banja are the most visited.
