Šibenik  is a historic city in Croatia, located in central Dalmatia where the river Krka flows into the Adriatic Sea. Šibenik is a political, educational, transport, industrial and tourist center of Šibenik–Knin County and also the third-largest city in the historic region of Dalmatia. It is the oldest native Croatian town on the shores of the sea.

Šibenik has a mediterranean climate with mild, humid winters and hot, dry summers.

In Sibenik you’ll never really get lost: if you walk uphill you’ll always end up at the fortress, and if you walk downhill you’ll always end up at the beach. Sibenik has a couple of things you definitely need to see and do when you are visiting.

St James' Cathedral

The Cathedral of St. James in Šibenik, Croatia is a triple-nave basilica with three apses and a dome (32 m high inside) in the city of Šibenik, Croatia. It is the church of the Catholic Church in Croatia, and the see of the Šibenik diocese. It is also the most important architectural monument of the Renaissance in the entire country. Since 2000, the Cathedral has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Šibenik City Museum

A narrow alley, behind the apse of the cathedral, leads to the 17th century Rector’s Palace, from where the representative of the Venetian Republic would watch over Šibenik’s affairs. It is now home to the City Museum which only reopened its door for permanent displays after a demanding 22 year break for renovations.  The permanent collection of artefacts dating from prehistory to the end of the Venetian period is split into four clear periods.

St Michael's Fortress

St. Michael's Fortress in the Croatian town of Šibenik is a medieval fort situated on a steep hill above the old historic center of the city. Its strategically favorable and dominant position made it the central part of Šibenik fortification system. Parts of the fortress date to the 13th century, but the surviving shell has been shored up with a polished-concrete understructure and converted into a summer stage.

Aquarium Terrarium

This aquarium-terrarium is a small zoo where you can experience the depths of sea, rivers and lakes and meet various interesting fish and reptiles. A useful rainy-day diversion for the kids, this little aquarium has a display of local and tropical fish, along with crabs, lobsters, rays, small sharks and the odd (very odd…) octopus.

Šibenik hinterland hides five rivers, three large and ten smaller lakes, five mountains, one national park, two nature parks and eight waterfalls.

International Children’s Festival, long tourist tradition because of which many guests from all over the world spend their holidays here, rich enological and gastronomical offer with unique sort of wine Babić, that is produced out of grapes coming from well-known Primošten vineyards and is one of the red wines of highest quality in Croatia, are all witnesses to the live and modern creativity of Šibenik.
