Frankfurt - Art and tradition

Other , 0 Comments Jul 30, 2023

Frankfurt is a completely different city compared to all the others on the German territory. It is a financial and business center, the headquarters of some of the world's most important companies, such as the European Central Bank and the German Federal Bank. Numerous world fairs are held in Frankfurt, which gather thousands of foreign business visitors. Well, despite the cosmopolitan epithet, Frankfurt is a city of traditional values, medieval-style buildings, pleasant taverns serving regional cuisine, parks, gardens, paths along the rivers. In terms of cultural wealth, it is close to the leading German city of Berlin.

Frankfurt is the birthplace of the most prominent German writer, Johann Wolfgang Goethe. Although his home was destroyed in the Second World War, today it has been completely restored with the original family furniture, pictures and books. So why not visit this house-museum and try to find inspiration right in front of the desk where Goethe wrote his masterpiece "The Woe of Young Werther"? To get to Frankfurt, consult the busticket4.me portal and the timetable to Frankfurt. On our website, a return bus ticket to Frankfurt is valid for 30 days from the day of departure.

Römerberg, literally "Roman Mountain", is the historic heart of Frankfurt. It is the only preserved part that reminds visitors of the city's history. Some of Frankfurt's most important historical buildings are located here, including the Rathaus, i.e. The town hall, which dates back to 1405 and is surrounded by wooden houses. The town hall overlooks the square where town fairs were held in the 13th century.

The Paulskirche, a church dedicated to St. Paul, was built between 1789 and 1833 and is the cradle of German democracy: the church was used for political meetings and became the seat of the first freely elected German parliament in 1848. Today, the Paulskirche is mainly used for exhibitions and special events.

Along the river Main, there are some of the most important museums in the city. Among them, it is worth mentioning the excellent German Film Museum and the famous Städel Museum, which focuses on the works of art of the old masters, starting from the Middle Ages. The last weekend in August sees the Museumsuferfest, which attracts millions of visitors along the Main River. The coast turns into an open-air stage: plays, international cultural and artistic events and fireworks enliven three days of celebration.
